Modena is a beautiful city in the Padana plain,

It is in the north of Italy, in Emilia Romagna, 40km west of Bologna.

the Cathedral of San Geminiano and
the Civic Tower, known locally as the Ghirlandina,

at the centre of the medieval area of the city.
The Cathedral of Modena is one of the most important Romanesque-style
monuments in Europe, both in architecture and in decorations.
These can be fully appreciated thanks to the recent restoration.
Carpi is 20km north from Modena and the biggest town in the province after Modena. It has a large and beautiful town square. Nonantola, 10km north-west from Modena, is famous for its ancient abbey. Sassuolo is a 20km far province of Modena, famous for its tiles factories. It was the summer residence of the Estense Family.
